Join us for the Stars Tonight at Bishop Museum! Examine the skies with a presenter in our planetarium, featuring the stars, planets, astronomical highlights, and other stories of the current season. 

Evening’s Schedule 

  • 30 minutes prior to showtime – Event doors open; Check-in, enjoy planetarium lobby exhibits  
  • 10 minutes prior to showtime – Show seating begins 
  • Showtime – A one-hour planetarium show experience.  
  • Following show conclusion – Stargazing on the Great Lawn, weather permitting, with volunteers from the Hawaiian Astronomical Society 

Please note: Due to the seating arrangement of the theater, we cannot guarantee social distancing. We recommend wearing a well fitted mask and ask that anyone feeling any symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, cough, or fever refrain from attending. 

*Registration closes one (1) hour before the scheduled program 

**Guests 3 and under will be expected to share a seat with an adult/guardian. 

Program Details: 

  • This is an in-person event at the J. Watumull Planetarium at Bishop Museum. No online options or recordings will be available. 
  • Seating is first come, first served. 
  • No late seating. Doors close at showtime, when the program begins. Please plan to arrive no later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to showtime. 
  • Check-in and entry will be near Bishop Museum’s Shop Pacifica (front entrance and gift shop). The check-in table will be located at the top of the main staircase/ramp and to the right. 
  • Check-in and viewing of the planetarium lobby will begin 30 minutes prior to showtime. Doors open for planetarium seating 10 minutes prior. The presentation will begin at the listed showtime and last approximately an hour. 
  • All post-presentation activities will end by an hour following the event. 
  • No food or drink allowed in the planetarium. 
  • The planetarium is fairly cool; You may want to bring a light sweater. 
  • Please pay for parking using a mobile phone through a posted Parklinq QR code (card payments only) or have your member parking sticker on your car. Please see Directions and Parking for more information. 
  • Tickets are fully refundable until one hour before showtime, on the night of the show. Refunds can be issued over the phone at (808) 847-3511 or via email at [email protected]. Less than 1 hour before the scheduled start of the show, ticket sales are non-refundable. Refunds not available for no-shows or late arrivals.
